The Libertarian Party of West Virginia
Welcome to the official website and online community for the Libertarian Party of West Virginia (LPWV). As membership continues to climb, the LPWV is assuming an increasing role in state politics. Whether it is hitting the streets and trying to educate voters or running for election, the LPWV tries to protect liberty for all West Virginians.
The LPWV is neither Democrat nor Republican. Rather, we represent the majority of West Virginians through our conscious efforts to protect liberty by emphasizing individual freedom. We believe each individual has the right to live as they wish, provided they do not infringe on the rights of others. This extremely important concept is what separates the LPWV from the two major parties.
The Libertarian Party of West Virginia would like to welcome in and thank the newest elected members of the Libertarian National Committee (LNC).
Today, at the close of the Libertarian National Convention, held at the Red Rock Resort – Las Vegas, NV- the Libertarian Party delegation elected our new LNC officers, at-large members, regional representatives and alternates.
As the national voices for the Libertarian Party of West Virginia, we want to thank each and every one of our new liaisons in the LNC. It is through their dedication, commitment and sacrifice that we are able to maintain and advance the Libertarian Party at not only a national level, but within our state affiliate.
LNC Chairman: Geoff Neal (TX)
LNC Vice-Chairman: Lee Wrights (TX)
LNC Treasurer: Tim Hagan (NV)
LNC Secretary: Ruth Bennett (AZ)
LNC At-Large: Bill Redpath (VA), Michael Cloud (NV), Starchild (CA), Arvin Vohra (MA) and Wayne Root (NV).
Again, the LPWV wants to thank each and every one of the above dedicated Libertarians working to create a better, freer society for everyone.
We are pleased to announce the results of the election for the 2012 Presidential and Vice-Presidential Libertarian Party Candidates as nominated on May 5, 2012 at the LP National Convention held at the Red Rock Resort in Las Vegas, NV.
The delegation of the Libertarian Party nominated former termed-out Governor of New Mexico Gary Johnson as the LP’s Presidential Candidate. Candidate Johnson received an outstanding seventy percent (70%) of the delegations vote.
In Gary’s acceptance speech, he concluded urging the delegation to consider Judge James P. Gray (CA) as his running mate, referencing his outspoken commitment to abolishing the war on drugs and his articulation of Libertarian ideals and beliefs. He further expanded by stating that by nominating Judge Gray, it “affords us the best opportunity to win!”
After the final campaign speeches from the VP candidates the Libertarian Party nominated their Vice-Presidential Candidate by delegate vote. The floor nominated Judge James P. Gray of California for Vice President of the United States with a solid fifty-nine percent (59%) of the delegation body.

We are working to compile a comprehensive history of the LPWV spanning from inception to present day. Over the years, there have been many changes of the Executive Committee which has led to loss of historical records. If you have information, photos, audio/video, event information, candidate records, etc., please visit "A Look Back: The History of the LPWV" to provide these valuable items for us to archive.
